Why inclusive pricing?
What are the requirements of uncorrupted Yoga transmission? Who should be able to benefit from this? Who pays for the necessary infrastructure?
The fair price for teachings should depend on the person giving, not on the greed of the receiver!
Yoga is a gift to humanity just like air and water, a sacred tradition for the cultivation of wisdom, modesty and selflessness.
Traditionally it was shared more or less freely and no enthusiast of Yoga would be excluded from diving deeply into the teachings.
This was possible, because rich people once upon a time understood their responsibility and supported this culture.
Over the past two, three decades capitalizm turned the altruistic tradition of Yoga into a profane business of profit-maximizion.
Having grown up in a toxic capitalistic system, I also needed years to understand that the correct price for Yoga teaching must not be determined by that which the richest 1% of society can afford.
It must not be determined by an un-yogic desire for more and more money.
It must be simply enough to give Yoga teachers the financial support of a simple lifestyle.
Therfore The correct price is individual and depends on the person
We have seen so many famous teachers who got richer greedier every year. Flowery words and images of selflessness are abused for covering up a selfish agenda.
How can it be that a single mother pays the same price for like a millionaire heir?
Currently the correct price for a product is the highest possible price for Yoga is profit-maximizion is globally accepted like a physical law.
Why capitalism and greed have no place in Yoga?
Selflessness cannot flourish in the soil of egotism and greed.
One of fundamental laws of Yoga practice is to be(come) firmly established in "non-grabbing-around"
(a-pari-graha). Even the deepest knowledge of Yoga ought to be a freely available resource just like air and
water and must not be hidden behind a pay-wall.
If I were “taken care of” I wouldn’t charge money for yoga.
More and more teachers are succumbing to the temptation (and capitalist logic) to make as much profit as possible. I find this spiral of greed inacceptable. Fixed prices are unaffordable for more and more people and appear downright cheap for others. Small discounts are often not enough and it is not fair to force people to beg for a discount. We need 100% variable pricing!
Do I have a high income or a low income? For comparison: the average net income per month is ~€2165. A lot of people earn less than that and only 4% earn more than 5000€. Can we learn to better understand other people's perspectives on life through yoga? Can we work together to make yoga accessible to everyone?
PS: I have been thinking about this problem for years without a solution. Donations did not work and discounts by age or occupation (students etc.) don't target the poor. What do you think about this approach overall? Do you think we can overall learn taking responsibility for people less fortunate than ourselves?
