The meaning of the yogic scriptures
The Ashtanga Vinyasa method is a wonderful introduction to yoga. The pure experience of breathing, inner stability and a controlled gaze is an extremely effective combination that can be experienced intuitively. In this workshop we will transform the initial "magic" into a life changing positive transformation according to the ethical values of Yoga.
Grischa's teaching is all about bringing deep yogic wisdom into your yogic practice, teaching and most
importantly your interaction with the world.
Language
This workshop will be held in English.
Requirements
Prior experience is only required for the Ashtanga Mysore sessions. All other sessions are open to all Yoga enthusiasts.

12:00 - 16:00 | Yoga Philosophy & Asana Alignment Magic |
Yoga begins with the willingness to let go: self-image, habits, behaviors, views, goals, privileges, and notions of right and wrong. Most importantly, it requires us to question what we think we already know about yoga. Only then can we truly encounter the essence of yoga – otherwise, we would have recognized it long ago. The ancient texts tell us that only a few are ready to take this step toward true freedom. But fear of transformation is a poor guide; not self-recognition is dangerous, but ignorance. Until around 2 PM, we will explore the core questions of authentic, original yoga as outlined in the Yoga Sutra. These teachings are logical, coherent, and concise – but to truly grasp them, we need to critically examine the accumulated layers of pseudo-knowledge. This often takes the form of superficial goals, fragmented techniques, and practices devoid of deeper meaning. The influence of capitalism is evident here too: much of what is marketed as yoga serves profit more than purpose. In the second, practical session, we will take a fresh look at the Ashtanga-Vinyasa method, unraveling its principles step by step and contextualizing them within the Yoga Sutra. We will revisit key concepts such as Ujjayi, Bandhas, and Drishti, and draw inspiration from the teachings of Adi Shankara, who lived over 1200 years ago. Even seemingly simple exercises can open up vast realms of insight, while so-called advanced techniques may reveal themselves as surprisingly mundane. The goal is to create a grounded, refreshed approach to practice that reconnects us to the deeper meaning of yoga. |
